Vice-Champion at the "Beer Championships" for our Egger Zwickl
We are delighted to announce that ourEgger Zwickl has been awarded at the Austrian Beer Challenge (ABC) 2024 in the "Zwickl and Kellerbier" category.
Reinhard Grießler, CEO of Egger Brewery, expressed his pride in this achievement and drew a sporty comparison: "Just like in football teams, it’s not about the individual product but the entire team. At Egger, we have a team of truly outstanding beers on the field." In addition to the silver-winning Egger Zwickl, an unfiltered and "quaffable" beer, our Egger Märzen and Egger Zisch also excelled in various competitions. Our bestselling Egger Märzen received a bronze medal at the European Beer Star and was awarded gold at the Falstaff Beer Trophy. Our non-alcoholic classic, Egger Zisch, secured third place at the ABC Challenge 2023.
These awards are a testament to the excellent work of our brewmasters, Johannes Meister and Tobias Laffer. High-quality raw materials and a passion for brewing are our secret recipe.
Egger Zwickl: A Typical Zwickl Beer
Johannes Meister, head brewmaster at Egger, describes Egger Zwickl as a harmonious blend of hops and malt, resulting in a beer that is both light and fresh. "It’s a typical representative of the Zwickl beer category," says Meister. We like to call it "truly quaffable" due to its characteristic flavor-giving ingredients.
Austrian Beer Challenge 2024
The Austrian Beer Challenge took place from May 31 to June 2, 2024, in the lecture hall of the Linz Brewery. More than 100 national and international judges independently evaluated the submitted beers in a blind tasting. The ABC is organized by BierIG, an association dedicated to promoting beer diversity and culture in Austria since 2002. At the "Beer Championships," the best beers in Austria are recognized annually across 20 categories.
